Flowers stuck to the disciples but failed the Buddha. Flowers could improve them and made them perfect. The story tells about cultivation, inhibiting resentment and desire. It also implied that prevention is better than treatment. “Fairy scattering flowers” points out the disciples’ insufficiency as well as the way for development. Three treasures rescue the public, MANJUSAKA enhances health and prevents diseases

According to the traditional Chinese medicine, the medicine and the food are of the same source. In addition to medication, the TCM attaches much importance to the diet which enhances the health, nourishes the body, prevents diseases and removes evils. It has long been believed that the diet composed of cypress fungi, cicada fungi，and coprinus comatus is the best choice for prevention of tumors, heart diseases and diabetes. The efficacy, believed by scientific workers at home and abroad, has been well documented in clinical researches and well studied pharmacologically. A famous TCM physician delightedly wrote: “Three treasures rescue the public, MANJUSAKA enhances health and prevents diseases; Chi Shui mythic pearl exists, well-being flowers produced”. It turned out that he had suffered from diabetes and coronary heart disease, which were dramatically improved by the diet.

The story of Chui Shui mythic pearl originates from Sky & Land, Chuang Tsi, “Huangti visits Chi Shui river and climbs Kunlun mountain; facing south, he lost his mythic pearl”. It is said that the mythic pearl changed into three trees which prevent diseases and enhance bodies. Posterity called them three-pearl trees or three-treasure trees. Tao Yuanming(a famous poet) wrote: “the brilliant three trees originated in the north of Chi Shui”. The TCM physicians all believe in what Huang Di’s Orthodox （Medical）Classic says—prevent surpasses treatment. So Chui Shui mythic pearl has long been desired; Shun Yikui, a medical specialist in Ming Dynasty, entitled his works with Chui Shui mythic pearl with all his life.

Prof. Nakazima, Umeda and Kaneda of the Medical Institute under Tayama Medical University reported that cypress fungi promote activity of T-cells in rat thymus glands, so that delayed hypersensitivity (DH) of incomplete Freund’s aquvant and Metnylated  & A is put off and immunity is significantly improved. It is mainly because of proteoglycan, which significantly inhibits metastatic tumor. Prof. Tanaka Marouhiro of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry in the College of Agriculture in Shizu Oca University finds that  -D glucan in cypress fungi significantly inhibit S-180, with the efficacy dosage of 0.15 mg/kg. What’s more, it also promotes spleen cells to produce IL-2, r-IFN and NK. It kills tumors without hindering normal physiological functions of cells, which is also very beneficial to hepatitis B, emphysema, senile chronic bronchitis and rheumatism.

Cicada fungi tranquilizes the mind and sharpens brains and eyes

Cicada fungi is similar to aweto in some aspects. Jing E San Fang Yao Lu describes it as “clearing the mind, resisting evils and toxics, calming the heart and promoting medication”. The medicinal herb has long been used to treat dizziness, red eyes, sore throat, palpitation and insomnia as well as child night weeping, fear and skin itching. In recent years, it is also successfully applied for anxiety, depression, insomnia and neurosis caused by stress. Ben Cao Tu Jing’s remark of “doing wonders in medication” has been proved. It is also regarded as nerve tonics for stressful life. Aged Qu Chi often treats MBD and senile failure of memory with cicada fungi, acquiring excellent improvements. He wrote, “Never forget patients though aged, medicines diligently studied; Cicada fungi tranquilizes the mind and sharpens brains and eyes”.

When I get Zhu Sha Brush, Pao Xiao become powerless

According to Shan Hai Jing, there was a monster called Pao Xiao (in Zuo Zhuang, it was named Tao Tie), which was famous for its greediness. It is said that Pao Xiao often induced people with food and seized them unprepared. Therefore on the bronze wares of West Zhou, there were veins of Pao Xiao, which might warn people of not being greedy at foods. Gao Tang Zha Ji says, “Anyone who is poisoned by Pao Xiao is relieved with Zhu Sha Brush (i.e., coprinus comatus ), which looks like cylinders or waist drums. White on surface and red on top, the medicinal herb gets the name Zhu Sha Brush”.

The story of Pao Xiao is sure a fairy tale, but it is true that coprinus comatus can detoxify Pao Xiao(eating excessively). British W. A. Hayes verifies in a mouse test that coprinus comatus can control body weight and regulate concentration of blood sugar, contributing to prevention and treatment of diabetes—the third heath killer disease to the human being. Essays about Gui Xiang says that coprinus comatus “nourishes stomach, clears the mind, clear away phlegm, produces saliva, dissipate diabetes and obesity”. Essays about Gui Xiang Shi Shui also writes “when I have got Zhu Sha Brush, Pao Xiao became powerless; intestines cleared and life prolonged, no need to envy gods”. Which regard Coprinus comatus as a food for longevity.
